CLIMB LEMOSHO ROUTE 8 DAYS | KILIMANJARO CLIMBING

The 8 days Lemosho route is one of the most successful. The extra days give your body more time to adapt, reduce the effects of altitude sickness, and give you more time to rest before attempting the summit.

Tour Overview

Our most scenic 8 days Lemosho route starts on the west side of the mountain, offering spectacular views of the majestic gorges on Kilimanjaro’s west side. 3-4 drive from Moshi. The route first takes you through remote rainforest before joining the Machame Route. The Lemosho route can be completed in seven to eight days, giving you plenty of time to adapt, and the success rate is very high! One of the only drawbacks to this option is that it tends to be a more expensive option due to the longer distances and remote locations.

Day by day

WHY 8 DAYS LEMOSHO ROUTE

If you choose the Lemosho route for your trek, it offers the most spectacular trail on Kilimanjaro. This route offers scenic views of different sides of the famous mountain.

This is one of the newest routes in Kilimanjaro and one of the most recommended because of its beautiful scenery, high success rate and low crowds. This route takes Mt Kilimanjaro forward from the west, starting from Arusha to the Londorossi Gate.

From Londorossi Gate, you spend the first two days trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge. This trail traverses the Shira Plateau from west to east, and there are only a few crowds until the trail junction on the Machame Trail near the lava tower.

The route then passes under Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field on a trail known as the Southern Circuit. Then descend the Mweka route.

PROS IN USING THE MACHAME ROUTE
  • Has the most spectacular panoramas
  • Better acclimatization opportunities
  • Higher success rates
  • Low crowds
CONS IN USING THE MACHAME ROUTE
  • Longer trek days
  • More expensive than shorter routes

BEST TIME TO CLIMB MT. KILIMANJARO

The best recommended time to climb Kilimanjaro are the dry months of December to mid-March and mid-June to the end of October, as these months are when the weather conditions are at their best. Clear skies, great views, little-to-no rain, and the sunshine.

However, there is always the possibility of weather changing dramatically, regardless of the season.

You can climb Kilimanjaro at any time of the year, but certain months are better than others. We recommend best to climb Mount Kilimanjaro during the driest months We avoid April and November as these are the main rainy seasons, making the trails more dangerous.
